Fiction - Thrillers - Suspense
Six months after Jarrod’s death, Corrie retreats to the family home her husband inherited deep in the Missouri Ozarks. She doesn’t know how to live without Jarrod—she doesn’t want to. By moving to Saunders Creek and living in a house beloved by him, she hopes that somehow her Jarrod will come back to her. Something about the house suggests maybe he has. Corrie begins to wonder if she can feel Jarrod’s presence, or is something more mysterious going on?
Jarrod’s cousin Eli is helping Corrie with the house’s restoration and he knows that his dead cousin is not what Corrie senses. Eli, as a believing man and at odds with his mystically-oriented family members, thinks friendly visits from beyond are hogwash. But he takes spirits with dark intentions seriously. Can he convince Corrie that letting go of Jarrod will lead to finding her footing again— and to the One she can truly put her faith into?Corrie feels Jarrod’s presence and is dead set on believing his spirit is in the house, she refuses to sleep in the house so she sleeps on the porch swing where she feels Jarrod’s presence the most. She is overcome with grief for the man she loved so much and lost.
She goes into town after Eli had told her that there was actually an art store there in the back of Jerry’s bakery, she comes across a painting that Jerry’s son Billy had painted of her house and in the attic window there is a shadowy figure behind a candle in the window, Corrie asked Jerry what that was and he told her that is was just something Billy said he had seen the night he painted it, Billy told his father he thought it was a ghost.
There are so many mysterious things happening in the house, and Corrie is so sure it is Jarrod’s spirit, but as time goes on and the mysterious things get stronger and angrier Corrie begins to think something else is happening.
Tracey Bateman has written an awesome mysterious novel that I felt was a book you just cannot put down, because you want to know what is going to happen next, it keeps you wanting more. I have read quite a few of Tracey Bateman’s books and for me this one is the best by far.
