To Heaven and Back: A Doctor's Extraordinary Account of Her Death, Heaven, Angels and Life Again: A True Story by Mary C. Neal, M.D. is an inspirational and true story of a Dr. Neal's experience with near-death, resuscitation, and how her life changed afterward.

I found the premise of this story to be interesting, as you think of doctors as being scientific, factual and evidence-based. Not so much on the surreal, spiritual or thoughtful side. This story is about her leap in faith of belief in what life can be and what God wants for each one of us.

Dr. Neal jumps into her decision making after this near-death experience and how the experience affects each aspect of her life forever on. This book is almost more written for the author herself as opposed to the reader, which may put some people off. However, this is emotionally challenging to read and inspirational at the same time. For anyone unsure of what to expect in the bridge between life on earth and the beyond, as well as what to do with the time that you have on earth, the book is a joy to read.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from Waterbrook Press in exchange for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion here is entirely my own.
