Pretty Lonnie Sawyer is shy and innocent, used to fading into the background within her family, and among the creeks and hollows of the Appalachian hills. Though her family is poor and her father abusive, she clings to a quiet faith. But when handsome ladies’ man and bluegrass musician Gideon O’Riley steals a kiss, that one action seals her fate.

Her father forces her into a hasty marriage with Gideon—a man she barely knows and does not love. Equally frustrated and confused by his new responsibilities, Gideon yearns for a fresh start, forcing Lonnie on an arduous journey away from her home in Rocky Knob.

Her distant groom can’t seem to surrender his rage at the injustice of the forced matrimony or give Lonnie any claim in his life. What will it take for Gideon to give up his past, embrace Lonnie’s God, and discover a hope that can heal their two fractured hearts?

This book was an amazing read! As the first book by Joanne Bischof it is easy to see that this very talented author is going to have many more wonderful books for us to enjoy.

I became so engrosed in the lives of these amazing characters. I cried when they cried, laughed when they laughed, and loved when they loved. The author does an amazing job of describing what these characters are going through and how they are feeling. I loved Lonnie's relationship with God and loved watching her grow into a strong and courageous woman of God.

It is very clear that Gideon had a lot more growing up to do and the book really focused on his path and how he changed from a young boy into a man. Through all of this though we also watch Lonnie accept this path that has been thrust upon her with a wonderful and amazing faith in God.

I pray that as I go through the trials of this life I can be as faithful, strong, and courageous as Lonnie O'Riley.

I give Be Still My Soul by Joanne Bischof 5 stars. This book is a must read for everyone. Great job Joanne Bischof and I look forward to reading more of your work!
