One thing is for sure, Nick Vujicic is a five-star man with a five-star story. If you doubt this, or are unaware of who he is, take a few minutes to watch any of his speaking engagements on youtube and your questions will vanish as you laugh and cry with this truly unstoppable man. His self deprecating humor comes through loud and clear in his writing as does the deep agony (and triumph!) of his life story. And yet beyond this I have to admit I just didn't find Unstoppable to be a five-star book. For the record, let me say this is probably the closest thing to a self help book I have ever read and they are quite frankly not my cup of tea. Perhaps this is the type of book more appropriate for a reader going through the type of crisis Nick has himself emerged victoriously from. The greatest strength of the book is certainly Nick's understanding of the power of faith and yet ironically this is its greatest weakness too. While Nick certinaly puts his own faith in Jesus Christ he seems to suggest in his writing that it is not so important what your faith is in but rather that you have it at all. Trust me from personal experience, there is a HUGE difference in putting your faith in yourself and putting your faith in Jesus. One will leave you crumpled on the floor in defeat while the other will elevate you to the unstoppable force Nick desires for your life.
My advice after reading this book; get to know Nick Vujicic, check him out online http://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org/ recognize the valuable contributions he has to make, but please, do not limit yourself to just reading this book and thinking that you know all there is to know about Nick Vujicic. I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
