Fiction - Christian - Romance
After Gideon O'Riley steals a kiss from Lonnie and her abusive father finds out, Lonnie is forced into a marriage to a man she barely knows and who does not want to marry her. Gideon is determined to be his own man and sets off on a mission for the two of them to leave town on foot with little food or money and search for a job. The journey is hard and dangerous and Gideon does not want to accept any kindness from strangers until the point he reaches rock bottom and a kind stranger leaves him no choice. Through all the hardships and trials she faces Lonnie holds on to her faith and trusts in the Lord.
Be Still My Soul was a good story. Even through life's difficulties, the Lord provided for Lonnie in a mighty way. Her life and faith had an enormous effect on Gideon throughout the story. Although life isn't always easy, God promises to work all things for good for those who love Him and that definitely showed through this story. I especially enjoyed the characters of Elsie and Jebediah.
I wished that the author would've been more in depth with the inside changes that were going on with Gideon instead of just showing the outward changes. Some further background on his family and his life might have given more insight to the reader
