I had a little trouble initially engaging with this book, but I am very glad that I stuck with it. This is another historical romance with a setting of a place in the USA that I am not very familiar with, Appalachia. The story takes us back to shotgun weddings, with parents having complete control over their daughters. Lonnie is an amazing young woman. Gideon is your typical arrogant, handsome young man. The two do not seem to make a likely match, however, the story works its magic and Gideon grows up. God and faith is woven throughout the story. He plays an integral roll in the book.

Once I got "into" the story I became completely engaged and invested in the situation. My emotions again became involved - laughter, tears, anger, etc. I like stories that engage my emotions, I am not usually a crier and find this a much needed release. I look forward to the other books in this series.

I received this e-book free of charge through the WaterMark Blogging for Books program in exchange for an honest review. The opinions are totally my own.
