When God Created My Toes by Dandi Daley Mackall is a cute story told from the point of view of a mischievous little girl. If you're looking for a fun book to read to the little ones, this will work. If you're looking for a book to help explain creation and birth from either a scientific or biblical point of view, this isn't the book for you.
Including Psalm 139: 13-16 on the dedication page at the front of the book, and using "God" in the title might imply to some that the book is based on biblical truth. And some of the lines aren't too far off track: "When God created my hair did he know my hair would look fine up there?" But with questions about hiding in cloudy skies and singing with angel bands, I wouldn't call this a bible-based book.
So I have mixed feelings about this book. Taken on its own, it's a cute book with good illustrations. Taken in a biblical context, it's a dud. It just depends on what you're looking for.
I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishers in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
